Plants in home

Comfort Maximized – From New Plants to Furnace Service

With winter settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That extends far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are four that we find particularly helpful here in Reeds Spring:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. Not to mention that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a host of fixes that can help you close those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are relatively basic fixes for homeowners to take care of themselves.
  • Switch your furnace filter. This is one of the most crucial things you can do to not only increase your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can take care of it yourself. It’s usually recommended to switch your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its capabilities, but some may last even longer.
  • Get plants. Indoor plants can provide a number of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they could likely improve your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of pollutants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having furnace service performed annually helps you be sure that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be addressed so your comfort isn’t compromised.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 417-739-4606 or schedule an appointment online to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
